MJ's passing really seals his fate as the King. As the state of music and album sales decline Michael's albums have been flying off the shelves of music retailers since his death. Michael seemed to always want to be on top and he is still there even though he is not with us. Check the story below from billoard.biz that details his album sales. This is crazy because before his death records that only sold 38,000 were making the #1 slot. Michael is going to make artist step their game up. Hopefully the media will allow him to rest in peace and the revenue earned from the albums are put in trust for his children.
Fans Snap Up 1.1 Million Michael Jackson Albums In One Week
July 14, 2009 - Rock and Pop

The King of Pop dominates the Nielsen SoundScan and Billboard charts yet again.
Based on preliminary sales numbers from Nielsen SoundScan, Michael Jackson's catalog of solo albums sold a mighty 1.1 million copies in the U.S. in the tracking week that ended at the close of business on Sunday (July 12).
That's a jump of 37% stacked next to the previous week, when his combined albums sold just shy of 800,000. In just the past two and a half weeks, American consumers have purchased more than 2.3 million Jackson albums.
Record label sources have suggested that sales of Jackson's albums were particularly strong last week because of publicity surrounding his memorial service on Tuesday July 7. Additionally, a wider selection of his albums were re-stocked by key retailers, in addition to key hits compilations like "Number Ones" and "The Essential Michael Jackson" and of course, "Thriller."
When Nielsen SoundScan's charts are released in the morning on Wednesday, July 15, Jackson's "Number Ones" collection will be the top selling album in the United States for the third week in a row, with 349,000 copies sold (an increase of 3%).
His "Thriller" moved 264,000 (up 41%) while "Essential" powered through another 149,000 (up 18%). Some older Jackson titles also saw great gains, likely owed to the one-two punch of re-stocking by brick-and-mortar retailers and the publicity generated by the memorial service.
"Off the Wall" sold 107,000 (up 108%), "Bad" did 97,000 (up 332%) and "Dangerous" blew through 67,000 (up 157%).
In turn, Jackson is still the King of the Top Pop Catalog Albums chart. It tallies albums that are more than 18 months old, have fallen below No. 100 on the Billboard 200 and don't have a current radio single. Catalog albums are ineligible to appear on the Billboard 200 chart though they can chart on the Top Comprehensive Albums chart.
This week, the entire top 12 albums are all Jackson-related. The singer specifically has the titles at Nos. 1-6 and 9-12, while two Jackson 5 compilations hold down the fort at Nos. 7 and 8.
Top Pop Catalog Albums Chart (Week Ending 7/12/2009)
1) Michael Jackson "Number Ones"
2) Michael Jackson "The Essential Michael Jackson"
3) Michael Jackson "Thriller"
4) Michael Jackson "Off The Wall"
5) Michael Jackson "Bad"
6) Michael Jackson "Dangerous"
7) Jackson 5 "The Ultimate Collection"
8) Jackson 5 "The Best of Jackson 5: 20th Century Masters: The Millennium Collection"
9) Michael Jackson "Greatest Hits: HIStory -- Volume 1"
10) Michael Jackson "HIStory: Past, Present and Future Book 1"
11) Michael Jackson "Invincible"
12) Michael Jackson "The Ultimate Collection"
Jackson's digital track sales have leveled off in the past tracking week, but still totaled 2.5 million in North America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

GAME AND JIM JONES AINT HAPPY WITH JAY Z
After a weekend of a Jay-Z freestyle and a Game response via Twitter, there have been more developments to this story..."The Game may be open to reconciling with 50 Cent and the G-Unit, but when it comes to Jay-Z, it doesn't seem like there is any love for one of his great rap influences. On Thursday at his tour opener in Las Vegas, Jay kicked an a cappella line where he mentioned some of his past foes, as well as former friends. "I ain't talking about gossip/ I ain't talking about Game," Hov rapped. "I ain't talking about Jimmy/ I ain't talking about Dame ... Dame made millions/ Even Jaz made some scraps/ He could've made more, but he ain't sign his contract." Jim Jones and Game responded on the Fourth of July via their Twitter accounts. "Question: if someone says in the song 'I'm not talkin' bout Jimmy,' is that not talkin' bout Jimmy? LOL," Jones Tweeted. "We are back in business, people." "Aight so, after about 10,000 responses ... The results read that he ain't dissin me," Game Tweeted. "And as bad as I want to respond to his old a--, he can slide." However, apparently Game changed his mind. In video footage that has been posted online, Game is seen calling out Hov onstage at a concert in France. "We ain't come to play no games today," Game rapped. "We in Bordeaux, France ... F--- Jay-Z, if you don't like that, you can find a exit somewhere." Game then leads the crowd in an obscene chant against Hov. Game has both given props to and dissed Jay publicly many times before. Hov has never officially responded to him in song, although many inferred that several lines in the original "Dear Summer" freestyle Jay spit several years ago on Funk Master Flex's radio show ("You saying my name to entertain your crew/I ain't playing no games, sh--, the game's through ... You playing a game you know you can't win/ Quit playing them childish games with grown men")
NYC Congressman Calls Michael Jackson A Low-life Pervert
ALL I CAN SAY IS... WOW.
A New York congressman says Michael Jackson was a "pervert" and calls on society to stop "glorifying" the late entertainer in a YouTube video.
Rep. Peter King said Jackson -- whom he called a "low-life" -- is being glorified in the days after his death while society ignores the efforts, of teachers, police officers, firefighters and veterans. In the two-minute video, King claims the "day in and day out" coverage of Jackson's death is "too politically correct."
"Let's knock out the psychobabble," King said in the video taped outside an American Legion Hall on New York's Long Island. "He was a pervert, a child molester; he was a pedophile. And to be giving this much coverage to him, day in and day out, what does it say about us as a country? I just think we're too politically correct."
King, a Republican who is among the possible contenders for the seat held by Democratic Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, said Jackson "may have been a good singer" and "did some dancing," but blasted the singer as someone who could not be trusted around children.
"There's nothing good to say about this guy," King continued. "But the bottom line is, would you let your child or grandchild be in the same room as Michael Jackson?"
Calls placed to King early Monday were not immediately returned.
In 2005, Jackson was acquitted of molesting a boy who spent time at his Neverland ranch and appeared with him in the 2003 British documentary, "Living With Michael Jackson." The entertainer had been accused of plying the boy with alcohol and groping him.
Earlier, in 1993, Jackson was accused of molesting a boy who often stayed at his home. The singer denied any wrongdoing, reached a settlement with the boy's family -- reported to be $20 million -- and criminal charges were never filed.
Stacy Brown, co-author of "Michael Jackson: The Man Behind the Mask," said King's comments were "irresponsible and insensitive" despite the fact he too thought Jackson had molested children.
"I'm not surprised that someone would feel that way," Brown told FOXNews.com. "I'm surprised that you would get a public official to say that. Let's face it, I'm not one to believe that Michael was innocent of molesting children, but he was never convicted. If he was convicted of those crimes, then hey, I'd have to agree with him."
Brown said the molestation allegations against Jackson were "devastating," professionally and personally.
"In hindsight, it was the beginning of the end of his life because I don’t think he ever recovered," he said. "This was a guy who spent most of his life protecting his privacy and that was shattered, obliterated during the trial [in 2005]. He was undressed during that trial."
Jackson had partially "recovered" from allegations of molestation during the 1990s, Brown said, in part due to his marriage to Lisa Marie Presley and the birth of his children. Still, some previous fans of Jackson had grown tired of the controversy surrounding the singer.
"He lost a lot of his adult audience, people who grew weary of the weirdness," Brown said. "But he reached far and wide and was able to sell 750,000 tickets for this comeback tour. Americans particularly and the world in general loves a comeback story … There was no one else like Michael Jackson. He was Elvis, the Rolling Stones, Sinatra and the Bealtes all rolled into one.
