THE RESPONSIBILITY OF BEING CREDIBLE (DJS PLEASE READ)




CREDIBILITY:

Credibility refers to the objective and subjective components of the believability of a source or message.
Traditionally, credibility has two key components: trustworthiness and expertise, which both have objective and subjective components. Trustworthiness is a based more on subjective factors, but can include objective measurements such as established reliability. Expertise can be similarly subjectively perceived, but also includes relatively objective characteristics of the source or message (e.g., credentials, certification or information quality). Secondary components of credibility include source dynamism (charisma) and physical attractiveness.

RESPONSIBILITY:

1. The state of being responsible, accountable, or answerable, as for a trust, debt, or obligation.
2. That for which anyone is responsible or accountable; as, the resonsibilities of power.
3. Ability to answer in payment; means of paying.

So its Saturday Night and youre about to go out on the town. You worked hard all week.. spent money on a new outfit, shoes/kicks and got your head straight with either a cut or a new hairdo.

Next question is... "Whats poppin for the night"

Simply this. You want to be at the spot where its all happening. The drinks are right, people are looking beautiful and the MUSIC IS TIGHT! So.. you are going to make sure you party with the most relevant person and place in the area. The Hottest DJ and Club.

The only thing is...You dont trust anything but the dollar in your pocket! DJ's..we dont mean sh*t anymore... most people dont even know the name of the DJ in th club let alone how credible he is for breaking records or creating hits.

Reason? Corporate Media has taken your credibility and has began to become responsible for ALLOWING the public to dictate to YOU whats hot and whats not.

How did this happen? Remember that call you got from so and so from such and such records?

Remember that feedback you gave to so and so? for how many years did you feed so and so your ideas and values, your ethics on how the artist can become better if...

Remember?

Then remember how such and such MEDIA company all of a sudden wanted to do a Mix CD with so and so dj?..

then SO and SO dj and so forth and so on? But you never got that shot?

but you KEPT on getting requests for feedback? Lol... let me break it down to you.

YOU GOT JACKED HOMIE!

Its kinda like the PD that stole all your ideas and then fired you because YOU were the threat that would soon replace him. 9/10ths of the industry doesnt even understand how its own gears turn, and YOU do! Wanna know why? Your PASSION has made you CARE.. and CARING IS RESPONSIBILITY! And being responsible makes you CREDIBLE. You know how the game works, who the major players are and whos next to blow. You know how to automatically turn a wake into a celebration in the club, and your knowledge is IMPORTANT to the industry for its SURVIVAL! Wanna check something funny out? Ask an A&R What does A&R mean and what doesn an A&R actually do... go ahead... I'll wait.





BOTTOM LINE. MOST CATS IN THE MUSIC BIZ ONLY WORK FOR A CHECK NOWADAYS AND THEY DONT GIVE A RAT'S ASS ABOUT THE PRESERVATION OF RAP OR HIP HOP MUSIC. DONT LET THESE SUCKERS DRAW YOU IN AND SUCK YOUR BRAIN DRY OF ALL YOUR MILLION DOLLAR IDEAS SO THAT THEY CAN LOOK GOOD IN FRONT OF THEIR BOSSES. FIND THAT UP AND COMING TALENT AND GROOM IT TO BECOME CREDIBLE.. AND BECOME RESPONSIBLE FOR HIP HOP ONCE AGAIN.
